Before the big bang part 1

On 18th November 1940 the current leader Sultan Qaboos – the only son of the late Sultan Said bin Taimur and the eighth direct descendant of the Al Busaidi line founded in 1744 by Imam Ahmad bin Said – was born in ‘Al Hisn Palace’ in Salalah the administrative capital of the Governorate of Dhofar in southern Oman. Eighteenth November is the countries National Day.

To celebrate the 42nd National Day in Salalah in Dhofar in the south of Oman, preparations for firework on the Festival Area in Ittin are on the way. The companies involved are the Al Awal Group based in Muscat and Mirnovec Pirotehnika based in Samobor-Croatia.  The word “firework” comes from the Greek word pyrotechnics, which means, very appropriately, “fire art” or “fire skill”; and in modern firework displays is certainly no shortage of art and skill.

Eight people are one week long, ten hours per day, busy with the preparation of the firework.  “The key to any good firework display is the story, the so-called ‘choreography” says Franjo Koletic, the founder-director of Mirnovec Pirotehnika who in 2010 set up business in Oman.

18th November 2012, at 8 o’clock, with one push on a button, 7000 combined and single shots of different firework calibers will highlighting the sky of Salalah city.

As usual, the ooh’s and the aah’s will be in the air.
