Historians say that ‘Sinulog’ is the link between the Filipino’s pagan past and its Christian present. Sinulog was already danced by the locals in honor of their wooden statues in the period before the baptizing. ‘Cebu city’ is well known for the yearly Sinulog festival. Today, for the ‘first time’ in Salalah, Dhofar the Filipino community celebrated their Sinulog festival in honor of the Santa Niňo, the holy child or the child Jesus.
Beside praying, the parade and the traditional Sinulog dance, games, raffles and contemporary music and dance were on display. Also delicious and typical Filipino food was offered. Fun, laughter and friendship among the visitors was in the air.
