Traditionally, also this year, during the summer, courses for learning the basics of photography were offered by the Dhofar Photography Society based in Salalah. One week was organized for children from 8 till 15 year old. Today, the second weekly workshop for young adults from 22 till 26 year came to an end. About twenty youngsters, with ladies in the majority, attended the workshop. Interesting to hear was the reason why.
For Said Mohammed Balhaf, who still studies engineering at the Dhofar University, is learning about photography a dream come true. The workshop is his first step to learn the basic. For him photography will be in the first place a hobby that can be developed.
Becoming a professional photographer is the dream of Arwa Al Mashani, who studied accountancy. That’s why she wanted to attend this workshop, so that she knows exactly what she needs to reach this goal step by step. Especially she is interested to become specialized in portrait photography. Arwa who is also busy with drawings and paintings sees the photography as an addition. When she does both art disciplines she can fully express herself, she finds.
Sabaa Saud Al-Shanfari who studied computer science and is already four years busy with photography, this workshop is a start for her to become professional. She likes nature, mountains, beaches but her goal is to become specialized in photographing flowers.
