Till Wednesday, in the crypt-gallery beneath the Saint Nicolas church in La Roche-en-Ardenne in my hometown in Belgium, two female artists, with two different techniques have two things in common: it is there first exhibition together and they both play in their own way with texture.
The abstract elements in the paintings of ‘Christine Collyn,’ are texture and colors. For the texture she applies tissue paper to the canvas. The acrylic paint comes on top of it. Personally she likes ‘cold’ colors. Beside her paintings she also makes illustrations for children. (Christine.firstname.lastname@example.org)
Besides creating texture in her ceramics, Carmela Cavaleri, also add beautiful colors to the bare stoneware surface of the objects she makes for the daily life. Her creativity is certainly showed in her latest design, made in three phases. First there is the bare stoneware, then the process of adding three colors and then on top of it a layer of glaze of Val Saint Lambert. For realizing her ceramics she doesn’t look at time. Because she knows that during the production a lot can happen. Making ceramic’s is a passion. Her house is adapted for it.
